What
do Jessye Norman, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Nancy Lopez, Barbara Walters,
Florence Griffith-Joyner, Susan Lucci and Gloria Steinem have in common?
The seven women are among the 50 million Americans living today who
were once Girl Scouts. |

Girl
Scouts today continue to reflect and build upon what began in 1912 as the
vision of one woman, Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scout
Movement in the United States. Through
its informal education program, Girl Scouting provides opportunities for
partnerships between girls and adults.
As girls widen their horizons and explore their world, they gain
knowledge and skills, confidence and self-reliance that will carry them
forward to a productive adulthood. Today Juliette Gordon Low's vision has expanded to touch the
lives of millions of girls, women and men across the nation.
In fact, research shows that nearly two-thirds of the women listed
in Who's Who of American Women were
Girl Scouts in their youth. And
most of them credit Girl Scouting with contributing to their success as
adults.
