Learn how to say your name in Spanish. Or, if it does
not directly translate, pick a Spanish name and see how it translates into

*Research and discuss three important women in Latin
American culture. One of these must be a contemporary woman. What were/are
their contributions? What country or group benefited from their
achievements?

*Learn three songs and/or games - one each from Mexico,
Central America, and South America.

**Teach another troop/group two songs in Spanish. Or
teach another troop/group two Latin American games.

*Find out how the physical border between the United
States and Mexicohas changed in the last 300 years. What parts of the
United States used to belong to Mexico or Spain? Discuss how do you think
this may have affected our culture in Oregon.

Learn customs and celebrate two Latin American
holidays. (i.e. Cinco de Mayo, Festival of Lights, Mexican Independence,
etc.)

Make a serape or other item of traditional Latin
American clothing.

**Find out about three racial/ethnic groups in Central
America or South America. (Examples: Inca, Aztec, Mayan, Olmec, etc.)
Review their contributions to their respective Latin American cultures.

Invite someone who is from or has lived in Mexico,
Central America, or South America to visit a troop meeting. Or go to a
presentation or workshop given by someone that has lived in or visited a
Latin American country.

Learn about three customs from a specific state or area
of Mexico. Share this with another troop/group. Create a play or skit
about a custom. Please remember to be authentic and research your subject
thoroughly before doing your presentation.

Participate in an event that features Latin American
dances and/or games. Or invite someone to a meeting to teach songs and/or
games.

*Make a piñata.

Make up your own requirement. Be creative and send your
ideas to the council service center.
