Juliette Low World Friendship

Suggested level: all 

Description: This patch helps girls better understand the international aspect of Girl Scouting and Girl Guiding.

Patch requirements: Brownie Girl Scouts - Complete four activities including the starred activities.  Junior Girl Scouts - Complete six activities including the starred activities.  Teen Girl Scouts - Complete eight activities including the starred activities.

  1. **On a map of the world, locate member countries of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).  Locate the four World Centers.  Mark the International Dateline on your map and locate where the first Girl Guides/Girl Scouts to start the day (i.e. when you participate in Girl Scouts, what time is it in Japan, France, Iran and Venezuela?).

  2. **Find out what the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund is and then make a contribution to it.

  3. Learn about the founders and history of WAGGGS.

  4. Learn and memorize the original promise and law of WAGGGS.

  5. Learn the differences and relationships between the World Conference, World Committee and World Bureau.

  6. Discover the countries that are members of WAGGGS.  Pin flags on a world map on each member country.

  7. Learn about the four World Centers.  Invite an older girl that has visited one to share her experiences with your group.  Contact the director of program services at the council service center for names of older girls that have visited a World Center.

  8. Learn a dance, song or game from at least three member countries.  Share with another troop.

  9. Raise money for the Thinking Day fund.  Be sure to clear your fund raising idea with the council’s development director.

  10. Pick on member country and research its culture, food, games, etc.  Share your findings with your families or other troop.

  11. Learn to say “Thank you” in four languages.

  12. Find out how a person may become a U.S. citizen.

  13. Celebrate a holiday with international customs.

  14. Plan an international program with or for another group/troop.

  15. Have a “tasting tea” of international goodies.

  16. Learn about five women from other countries.

  17. Invite someone from another country to your troop or home.  Learn about children’s lives in their country.

  18. Name five major religions found around the world.

  19. Plan a Thinking Day observation.

  20. Name currencies used in six member countries.

  21. Do you own international thing.
