The
Girl Scouts Beyond Bars (GSBB) program offers activities on two Saturdays
a month within the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville with daughters and mothers.
During the mother/daughter meetings, mothers and daughters have the
opportunity to work on badges and projects together, plan troop
activities, play games, and visit. Additionally,
on the alternating Saturdays, activities for the girls can be held back
in the local area, or girls can join local troops.
The girls are invited to participate in any council or service unit
area-sponsored activities. Twice
a month, adults development meetings are held with the incarcerated adults
where they learn to plan activities and meetings, and discuss parenting
skills, communication, and child development.
