Girl Scouts of Santiam Council has begun its annual Girl Scout Nut Sale. The
Girl Scout Nut Sale teaches girls about goal setting, business practices,
self-confidence, and teamwork. At the same time, the nut sale raises money for
Girl Scout programs, allowing girls to experience the wide variety of art,
career awareness, outdoor and service activities that only Girl Scouting can
offer. All of the proceeds of the nut sale stay in the local community to
provide program to girls and support to volunteers.
"For Girl Scout troops, the sale provides funds to support troop activities
such as field trips, camping, and service projects," said Kelly Ronning,
Director of Program Services. "For the Girl Scouts themselves, the girls learn
responsibility and teamwork, and how to handle money, relate to the public,
learn to set goals and achieve those goals, as well as how to budget for the
year's events while having fun."
Girl Scouts of Santiam Council will be selling seven different varieties of
nuts: Whole Cashews, Honey Peanuts sold in a gift/ collectors tin, Butter Toffee
Peanuts, Hot Cajun Crunch, Peanut Squares, Chocolate Covered Raisins, and
Chocolate Covered Peanuts . The Cashews and Gift Tin filled with Trail Mix will
sell for $6.00 a can, the remainder will sell for $4.00 a can.
