Each summer,
hundreds of girls attend day camp and resident camp throughout our
council.
Resident Camp
Girl Scouts of
Santiam Council provides an extensive summer resident camp program.
Beautiful Camp Whispering Winds, located near Philomath, Oregon, serves as
the setting for girls to expand their outdoor skills while learning new
skills. Campers can attend
sessions lasting from four days to two weeks and can enjoy arts and
crafts, water fun, sports, hiking, boating and much more. Look for the Whispering Winds Compass, which is available
each year in mid-March. The
Compass is the guide to our summer resident camp program and will explain
in detail all the fun a girl can have at camp.

Day Camps
Day camps are developed and carried out by volunteers in the sponsoring
communities. Santiam Council
oversees adult training and provides support as needed.
Most day camps last one week and may be held during the day or in
the early evening hours.
Through the day
camp experience, girls learn how to relate to others, put their values
into action, gain self-esteem and contribute to society through service
projects. Day camp is an
early stage in the progression of outdoor experiences.
Girls often start with day camp and advance to troop camping and,
finally, to resident camp--completing steps along the way toward
independence and a positive self-image. Your community may be
planning a day camp and could use your help. View area
